HERMOSA WAVE SURF SCHOOL

Once upon a time, there was an artisan. Every day, he sat in the parking lot of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, watching life unfold as he made his macrame. The most famous singers and actors and models and influencers all came to this beach to surf, or learn to surf, in many cases. The surf instructors strutted back and forth from the ocean to the parking lot throughout the day, taking breaks between lessons to brag about conquests (both the waves and the women). The artisan was growing tired of sitting all day and listening to these stories, which all felt the same. The last few years had been difficult for him. Life had been difficult for him. He loved his peaceful existence, but also held within him a lot of grief and an aching loneliness. His heart desired a deeper connection.

When she appeared, looking lost and holding a coconut, he first spoke to her out of kindness. Her surf instructor had disappeared, and she had no shoes, no phone, no money, and no vehicle. Just her swimsuit and a smile. She was not a model or influencer or anyone famous, clearly. They chatted as she examined his bracelets one by one. She wanted to pick one out for each member of her family, whom she was traveling with. Quite some time passed while she waited for her instructor to finally return, and when he did, she asked for the artisan's number so that she could coordinate a way to buy the bracelets the next day. This was the beginning of a painful but beautiful journey for both of them — something they needed to realize their truer selves, but it would cost them a lot.
